Up until now diabetes was considered to be an irreversible condition. In most cases type 2 diabetes is caused by increasing insulin resistance as a result of a long-standing diet consisting of too much carbohydrate. In other words more and more insulin has to be produced to get good blood sugar control. By restricting carbohydrate intake there is reduced need for insulin and increasing sensitivity to insulin. Progressively then there is less need for medication and intervention. If successful a non-diabetic state is achieved.
